Discover the art of linocut printing in this hands-on, beginner-friendly 6-hour workshop. Learn how to create your own linocut print from start to finish — from preparing your design and carving your lino block to inking and printing.
 
With professional tips and personalised guidance from Jessica Serov, an artist and printmaker with over 10 years of experience, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to experiment with different ink colours and printing methods while discovering the techniques that make linocut printing so unique.
 
No previous printmaking experience is required — just bring your creativity and come ready to get hands-on!

Workshop Details
9:30am–3:30pm | 6 hours
$255 per person 
Beginners & Intermediate welcome | Ages 18+
Location: Packsaddle Studio, NERAM, Armidale, NSW | Parking Available onsite and street parking.
The workshop covers: Introduction, Design Development & Image Transfer, Carving, Inking & Printing, Artwork Finalisation and Clean-up
Includes a 15-minute morning tea break, 30-minute lunch break and 15-minute afternoon tea break
 
What’s Included
All tools, printing mediums and equipment
One 15cm × 15cm piece of linoleum
Testing paper for experimenting and proofing
Two pieces of fine art printing paper (A5 Sized)
Detailed demonstrations of each stage
Safety: All participants will be required to read and sign a workshop risk acknowledgement form before the class begins. Safety demonstrations and guidance will also be provided throughout the workshop.
Take-Home Package: An archival display sleeve and backing board to protect and display your favourite print, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity
Morning tea & afternoon tea: Light refreshments provided
 
What to Bring
Your own design — bring a prepared design such as a hand-drawing, printed digital artwork, photograph or magazine cut-out, or bring an idea to create on the day. Designs should ideally be close to 15cm × 15cm. If using a photograph, please bring a copy you’re happy to draw on.
Design tip: Simple designs with clear shapes and lines work best for linocut.
Apron or clothing you’re happy to get messy in. Please avoid loose-hanging clothing for safety reasons.
Warm clothing: During winter, the studio can get very cold, so please dress accordingly.
